how it all started
My story
I’m Ante Oriol, the artist whose artworks you see on this site. I’ve been making things as far back as I can remember.
When I was a kid, we had a small apartment that was completely cluttered with tubes of paint and saturated with the scent of turpentine and other solvents.
My mom used to paint pictures, dancing in front of her easel for 14 hours a day, and she did it so flawlessly and skillfully that it felt like a sacrilege to try to paint around her.
That’s why I sculpted. All the toys, cars, cowboy horses, scary tigers – everything was made of plasticine that had become dark gray as a result of being used so much.

From Pencil to Clay: A Creative Journey Shaped by Hands
Yes, yes, over time, there were drawing lessons, endless ordeals to create a composition and drawing in pencil and color. I honestly struggled with still lifes and drawing the human from nature, but… when we started working on joint projects, it was still easier for me to grab a piece of clay and quickly sculpt what I had in mind than to bother with shading and placing highlights and shadows.
Even now, I make very few sketches, but I make a lot of samples in clay. It’s just my way of thinking, and in order to finally bring an object that belongs to me into the world, I have to hold it in my hands.

Now I’m a mature man, but I have to admit that I still enjoy making things. I am deeply convinced that all the supreme powers that govern this world are not trying to punish or reward us; they are playing with us, playing like children who create endless stories in their minds and decide the fate of their own plasticine creatures. So who are we to do it in a different way? I invite you to play, stop being boring adults, and come to the world of predatory fish and magical dragons! This place is interesting, cozy, and just like in childhood. Please believe me 🙂
